Disconsin Disc Golf Club will once again remove buckthorn this spring and needs the public’s help to achieve its goal. Members will spend Saturdays in April clearing this scraggly tree from Roger Popple Nature Area near Webb Park.
Cleanup hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., but participants don’t need to stay the full time, said Andrew Denman, one of Disconsin’s founders. Those who want to work need to bring their own gloves. It’s also a good idea to have eye protection to guard against wood chip dust and debris.
Gardeners may bring their own clippers or tools, and chainsaws are appreciated. Denman said only adults are allowed to use saws and herbicide but children can collect sticks or branches.
